We’ve been bringing the tech trends to the readers of our blog, by continuing to write on certain topics (like 5G, SD-WAN, Wi-Fi networking). As a summary from 2019, we have compiled here a list of the 5 most popular posts from our website.
2018 was a very interesting year for us and technology. We introduced our IoT product “Souly”. 5G entered the normative work in standardization and released the first “version” of 5G. Wi-Fi introduced new security schemes and changed nomenclature. The networking world shifted towards SDN/SD-WAN solutions.
This post is dedicated to provide an overview of the Viptela policies. We go into the the details of the various kinds of policies and the overall policy architecture. In our earlier post we had focused on Viptela concept, Viptela SD-WAN components and how to authenticate the vEdges to Viptela cloud and setup basic connectivity between sites.
This article is the first part in the series about SD-WAN technology where we learn step by step what exactly Software Defined WAN (SD-WAN) is, how to build and use it, how and why using this concept could be beneficial for enterprises or even service providers and how to transform the current enterprise WAN to a SD-WAN solution. We are going to start with looking closely at Cisco Viptela product, however later on, we will describe other SD-WAN platforms in a similar manner.
2017 was a very exciting year with a lot of new technological trends emerging such as 5G, IoT, MTC, SDN, etc. We tried to cover a vast variety of topics in our blog posts and also introduced the Grandmetric Guidepaper to get deeper understanding of the technological concepts.
No 1 principle of SDN is to separate the devices abstraction that transport the network traffic (forwarding plane) from control plane abstraction, in such a way that it enables to control the network functions by the means of software layer. In practice it can be systems, web applications, and scripts.
The 5G System (5GS) will have three main components as defined below: 5G Access Network (5G-AN) 5G Core Network (5GC) Use Equipment (UE) This blog is dedicated to describing the main components of the 5G Core Network as defined by the ongoing efforts at 3GPP SA [1]. The 5G system is being designed to support […]
As the “5G” research and standardization is progressing, I would like to elaborate a bit on some concepts that are potentially serving as building blocks for the future systems. They are divided in this post into: Air interface and Networking concepts. Selected air interface aspects millimeter Wave (mmW) – The high-frequency ranges are currently becoming […]
Within this series of posts, I want to review the 5G concepts from the IP-networks perspective and explore the available techniques on the market which allow translating the presented concepts into real infrastructures. This post is related to a concept known as 5G network slicing. Recently, there are many documents describing 5G principles and architectures. […]
This article presents the currently ongoing activities in the area of 5G research under the umbrella of Horizon-2020 EU-funded projects. It is the second part of the “research activities in Europe“, following the previous article focused on FP7 projects, namely Towards 5G – research activities in Europe (part 1 – FP7 projects). Overview of the 5G related Horizon-2020 […]
