    Disaster Recovery Plan

Disaster Recovery Plan, i.e. restoring the organization’s operation after data loss or blocking of access to it, is a time-consuming process, and in business, every minute of downtime means costs that can be realistically calculated. And these amounts are usually not small.

Requirements regarding Disaster Recovery Plan may also arise from customers who want to be sure of the continuity of services provided, in the case of government organizations – the security of sensitive data or auditors verifying the level of security in the company.

Trying to anticipate the unforeseen, together we will prepare your company for the worst-case scenario to avoid a disaster or make the interruption as short as possible.

Many companies believe that this does not apply to them. This usually happens until they find themselves in a similar situation. The lack of procedures and equipment or software for restoring the environment means that restoring data takes a day, two or even three days, and in many cases it is not possible to recover everything. The company’s losses in this respect far outweigh the development or purchase and maintenance of the Disaster Recovery Plan.

    – Karol Goliszewski, Consulting Engineer, Grandmetric

    Prepare your organization

Prevention is better than cure – this is a statement with which both doctors and IT specialists agree.

Good preparation allows the organization to respond efficiently in a crisis situation, and in some cases even prevent its occurrence. The Disaster Recovery Plan, created in the event of data loss, contains the strategy and tools necessary to quickly restore system operation. It describes in detail the necessary activities, software, data storage methods and even hardware, and the precise division of roles ensures that each person involved in the process knows the scope of their responsibility.

    • On-premise – a data safe located at the client’s premises. It gives you full physical control over the infrastructure and connection to the system. Apart from the moment of backup, it is completely isolated from external factors. It is the customer’s responsibility to purchase and maintain the devices in working order.
    • Collocation – this is a type of on-premise solution that allows data to be fragmented into various external locations. By using this form, the owner relieves himself of the tasks related to physical protection, power supply and maintaining communications. This avoids situations where all data is stored by one supplier and reduces the risk of random factors such as burglary, fire or flooding.
    • Cloud – it is easily scalable, allows for quick access to data and storing it in a safe data center environment. It is the supplier’s responsibility to select and maintain the infrastructure. Especially dedicated to those who do not have the space to choose an on-premise system, want to protect themselves in a short time or need an additional layer of protection.

    Good practices

    • Use solutions from proven suppliers such as IBM, Veeam or Dell,
    • Pay great attention to training,
    • Minimize human error by appropriately granting user permissions,
    • Run a thorough audit of the security and current processes,
    • Test backup copies regularly,
    • Identify weak links.

    Results?

    Accelerated data recovery

Reducing the costs of backup infrastructure

    Clear procedures

    Security with Grandmetric

The support of an external partner in the field of Disaster Recovery brings added value, providing a synergy effect:

    • As a company dealing comprehensively with security, during the audit, we pay attention to all threats, not only those resulting from our tasks.
    • Ordering the time-consuming preparation of a Disaster Recovery Plan will allow you to relieve the IT Department and continue its normal work
    • An external view of the entire process can detect possible imperfections and help plug gaps.
